Development trailing arms caster corrected

Trailing arms caster corrected

In a chassis modification (suspension lift) of a Land Rover Defender the trailing front axle caster corrected changes. This only can be amended by corrected trailing arms. Otherwise the corner of the probshaft changes and there may be noises in the drive train. It could also come to a more spongy driving performance.

Design

To get the best results for the caster corrected trailing arms – the design was implemented to get maximum stability and inexpensive production. Welding is expensive – so the protoypes were welded in our own workshop.

Applications

For armored or protected Land Rover Defender it should be developed trailing arms with 3° caster correction. The fact of the matter that the vehicles were extremely loaded in desert areas the modifictation gets not easier.

Production

The production should be as uncomplicated as possible and achieve maximum stability, however. As the material S355 was elected with 15 mm thickness the Defender trailing arms with correction correct a lift kit 40-50 mm.
