4WARD4X4 Expedition – From Germany to Mongolia

The big adventure is coming up soon. I will start my expedition to Mongolia in only a few days. While most people just take a plane to go to Mongolia, I will choose the adventurous way and drive in my Land Rover Defender, instead. This big adventure will be a challenge for me as well as for my 4-wheel drive and all of the different parts of the car. To reach Mongolia I will have to pass many different countries and many different landscapes. The trip is the perfect test for the new products of the 4WARD4X4 partner companies such as Superwinch, Safety Devices and MaxTrax. In total there will be 25,000 kilometers of road to intensely test these products.

Offroad Expedition – Germany Mongolia

Mongolia is four times as big as Germany but only has 3.2 million inhabitants. The wide country has no more than 1,000 Kilometers of paved roads. The grassland and the bumpy dirt roads are a perfect environment to test a 4-wheel drive in extreme conditions. Before I reach Mongolia and the beautiful desert Gobi, I will have to cross eastern Europe and Russia, the biggest country of this world. Russia has a lot of straight and boring streets. In addition, Russia’s police regularly stops cars to ask for a small (or large) amount of money. To cross Russia, I will need patience and strong nerves. That’s why I chose to drive a little more on Kazakhstan’s roads. Kazakhstan has beautiful deserts, mountains and steppes. These different landscapes and climate zones offer a large variety of scenarios, not only for visitors but also for the car parts, to prove their resistance against wind, weather, cold and heat.

Endurance test for Defender products

On my long-distance trip, I will be able to test several Engage 4X4 products for my clients. First the focus lies on the new Engage 4X4 2,5″ PDS Step 3 shock absorbers and on the recently updated double ankle prop shafts. The long journey is a perfect stress test because the vehicle and its parts will be in constant use in different climate zones. The cage carrier system for Safety Devices roll cages and the new Engage SFJC jerry can system have a great chance to prove their quality. During the whole trip, I will keep you informed of my adventures on the road and about my experiences with the different spare parts and accessories. This trip from Germany to Mongolia will help me to give better counsel to my clients in the future.

Why do I take this trip?

Of course, I associate such expeditions for giving my clients hints and suggestions about there proper preparation for there own larger expeditions.

It is clear, that you can not prepare an expedition for all adversities. However, one should leave as little as possible to chance You should take enough time to get the proper equipment for yourself and the vehicle. Neglecting this topic can have serious consequences depending on your destination and travel type.

About the own preparation, as well as modifications to the ENGAGE4X4 Defender we will report in the following articles.

On the trip, you can follow me Digiatal on our live tracking website or on our Facebook, Instagram or Tumblr.
